Brady Corporation Ltd – Email Marketing Manager

Brady Corp is a long-standing client of TMS Search & Selection and we were delighted when the Digital Marketing Director asked us to help them recruit an Email Marketing Manager. This was a newly created role and they were looking to acquire a talented, results oriented, driven and creative individual to join their European Digital Marketing team.

This had to be someone very hands on who had done the job themselves rather than seen it be done. Blasting out newsletters in a ‘one size fits all’ approach wouldn’t do, they had to have experience of segmenting customers, building multiple customer journeys and executing campaigns for whichever journey a customer is on; definitely a data driven decision maker!

Key requirements:
A brand new role, they needed an experienced “hands on” Email Marketing Manager to own the eCRM strategy, and lead a small European team responsible for setting email marketing strategy, with focus on creating the vision, developing processes and executing email campaigns across the region:
• Lead, coach and develop small European team (UK, France & Germany)
• 5 years’ experience in a marketing role, with a minimum of 3 years focusing on email and be able to contribute to development of EMEA Digital Marketing Strategy
• Advanced knowledge of email marketing, including the use of marketing automation, personalisation, dynamic content and triggered email.
• Experience with Marketing Cloud service providers such as Exact Target (SFMC), Pardot, Smart Focus or Responsys

Challenges:
• The role required someone with a particular blend of experience; hands-on but with a track record of creating and delivering an email marketing strategy.
• Location would be an issue; although it’s very accessible with good motorway links the immediate candidate pool was going to be limited so we needed to consider people willing to commute to the client base.

Approach:
• We met with the client in Banbury to get a proper understanding of what they were looking for and to define the role’s key responsibilities and focus.
• Extensive mapping of the market to identify experienced individuals capable of delivering the clients requirements and supported the search with online advertising before conducting the headhunt.
• Detailed and exhaustive pre-screening of all relevant candidates to ensure the shortlist consisted of the best candidates for the opportunity.

Outcome
TMS Search secured an outstanding candidate from a locally based FTSE listed company who fitted all the criteria; hands-on experience, leadership qualities and ability to create & deliver an email marketing strategy.
