Having been approached by West Bromwich Building Society, TMS Search & Selection were delighted to help them find a Branch Manager for one of its key locations. They needed a mix of qualities; financial services background, personality fit and career profile.

Key requirements:
• Responsibility for everything within your branch: leading people, hitting sales targets and driving team performance and maintaining excellent customer service standards.
• Meeting customer needs through the sale of non-regulated financial service products, other products and referrals to appropriate specialists. In addition to achieving your own personal targets you will manage and motivate team members to achieve target / compliance objectives.
• Flexible, versatile and able to multi-task, demonstrating the ability to plan ahead to ensure everything runs smoothly day to day in your branch.
• Proven track record in sales, demonstrate success in target delivery, driving activity, performance management, effective control, adherence to compliance requirements and the development and coaching of staff.
• Background in financial services would be an advantage – highly motivated individual, and have highly-developed customer service skills.

Challenges:
• Due to increasing regulatory control and a greater emphasis on governance, the client needed to ensure candidates had a strong combination of sales & control.
• Despite a flood of recent redundancies within the financial services sector, the overwhelming level of interest from a sea of active candidates meant identifying quality candidates was a particular challenge.

Approach:
• A proactive headhunting, networking and referral methodology to maximise exposure to quality individuals.
• Thorough competency based interviewing to ensure complete alignment of both candidate and client expectations.

Outcome
After successfully headhunting a Branch Manager from one of the clients competitors TMS Search & Selection is now regarded by the client as a strategic partner, over and above their other preferred supplier search firms, and have subsequently been tasked to complete several further mandates at more senior levels.
