Field Service Engineer – Agricultural Machinery / Crop Sprayers
(with Workshop Responsibilities During Quieter Periods)
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our client, supporting customers across the agricultural machinery sector with a strong focus on self‑propelled and trailed crop sprayers.
This is a varied and hands‑on role: you will spend the majority of your time in the field diagnosing, repairing and supporting customer machinery, while also contributing to workshop and production tasks during quieter months.
You will report directly to the Service Manager and work closely with both field and workshop engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Field Service (Primary Focus)
- Diagnose, service and repair agricultural machinery, particularly crop sprayers and associated systems
- Carry out routine maintenance, emergency breakdown support and field‑based repairs
- Provide remote technical support, including telephone‑based troubleshooting
- Support machine installations, commissioning and operator training
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider engineering team
- Participate in a seasonal call‑out rota (shared across six engineers during peak season)
- Complete service reports, maintain accurate records and uphold high standards of safety and workmanship
Workshop & Production Duties (During Quieter Months)
- Carry out workshop‑based servicing, diagnostics and repairs
- Prepare new and used machines for delivery, ensuring all systems are fully operational
- Assist with machine upgrades, component replacements and system calibrations
- Conduct hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and pneumatic fault‑finding
- Support field engineers when required, including occasional on‑site repairs
- Maintain an organised, safe and compliant workshop environment
- Work collaboratively with the workshop team to resolve complex technical issues
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
- Basic understanding of hydrostatic drive systems and diesel engines
- Excellent communication skills with a flexible, team‑oriented approach
- Confident speaking with customers, including remote diagnosis and telephone support
- Ability to follow direction while also working independently in a safe and calculated manner
- Self‑motivated, organised and capable of managing both routine and reactive workloads
- Good attention to detail and strong problem‑solving ability
Desirable
- Experience with agricultural machinery, particularly crop sprayers and GPS guidance systems (training provided)
- Experience with CAN BUS systems (training available)
- Steel welding and fabrication experience
- Ability to read technical diagrams and follow structured repair processes
Working Hours & Package
- 45–50 hours per week
- Salary dependent on experience

Location
- Based out of the HQ near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
- Primarily field‑based with travel to customer sites
- Workshop/production facility work required during quieter periods
