Role: Mechanical Design Engineer – Oil & Gas
Location: North West, UK
Salary: Circa £40k basic + benefits
Based in the North West, our client is an IP-led advanced engineering company serving the Global Oil and Gas industry with a portfolio of patented connector technologies that provide secure, reliable and efficient connection points for the transfer of fluids and gases.

What you’ll be doing
- Design work to ensure the company’s products meet the customer’s specifications, ensure the continuous improvement of the company’s products to enhance their capability and/or reduce their
- Development and design work on the future products of the company, including concept design, detail design, prototype testing and qualification
- Complete and implement none conformance reports & engineering changes
- Respond to customer requests regarding engineering drawings and engineering
- Writing of technical reports with regard to design, calculations & analysis, development and
What we’d like from you
- Experienced engineer with experience in real-world mechanical engineering, drafting, and production associated
- Minimum 2:1 Honours degree, BEng or BSc in Mechanical or Structural
- Enthusiastic team player, good communication, both verbal and
- Analytic, organised, measured and efficient working
- Happy to take direction and work to project requirements and
- Able to multitask and prioritise efficiently.
Your knowledge
- Ideally a minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience in the Oil & Gas
- Experience in hand calculations associated with bolting, pressure vessels and
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards such as API, ASME, DNV, PD5500
- Generation of pressure vessel & structural calculations from first
- FEA experience using appropriate software (ANSYS, ABAQUS etc).
- Minimum of 5 years experience with 2D & 3D CAD (Solidworks, Inventor, SolidEdge etc).
- Experience with tolerancing & stack-up
- Technical documentation generation experience (O & M manuals, technical reports, qualification procedures etc).
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office
- Experienced MathCAD
Ideally you’ll have
- Experience in Valves and
- Experience managing Research & Development
- Extensive industry FEA experience (HISC, fatigue, ratcheting analysis etc) using applicable codes.
- Practical testing & qualification of prototype and existing
- Project planning / management
- Design for manufacture & assembly
- Corrosion-resistant material experience for subsea
