Role: Interim Head of Finance – 3/6mths
Location: Dudley, West Midlands
Salary: Market competitive day rate or employed on a STC
We are looking to bring in an Interim Head of Finance to support the business whilst it conducts its search for a permanent Head of Finance. We need someone immediately available and willing to get fully involved in supporting the team through this transition period.
Our client is the UK’s leading PPE & Workplace Safety supplier to hundreds of commercial & domestic clients. We all know what PPE means, but to our client it also means; passion, personality & energy!
They are going through major growth and change with lots more planned over the coming years. You’ll lead a team of finance & support people and be a key member of the senior management team, holding the financial reins of the business.
The business will also be appointing a Financial Accountant, reporting to the Head of Finance and it’s expected this person will take on a number of the areas listed below.
What you’ll do
- Protecting the assets of the company and ensure compliance with financial and other legal requirements
- Maintain the financial health of the company
- Driving cost reduction, procurement and other process improvements that add value to the company
- Working with the MD to help achieve the financial objectives of the company alongside strategic and operational objectives
- Influencing the future direction of the company and supporting any long-term investments
- Producing accurate information in a timely manner and support the Managing Director and the board in achieving the business’ goals and ambitions
- Preparing monthly management accounts and compiling the monthly management reporting pack
- Preparing budgets and forecasts
- Overseeing the whole finance function which covers departments such as, credit control and purchase ledger and ensuring that the company’s finance function/system is organised and efficient so that transactions are processed accurately and promptly
- Manage the relationship with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process. Manage relationships with other external parties, including advisors, bankers and insurers
- Preparing ad hoc in-depth financial analysis to support decision making
- Preparation of VAT returns
- Submitting figures to comply with requirements of the Office of National Statistics
- Supporting the negotiation and preparation of contracts
- To oversee the payroll process
- Managing the pension scheme
- Managing the cash flow of imports, booking currency and managing the foreign bank accounts, minimising currency risk as far as possible
- Managing insurances for the business, including general business (car, employee liability, product liability), health, key person and life insurances
- Financial input into tenders
- Any other task commensurate with the level of the job, as required by your line manager
What you’ll need
- Ability to report accurately to the MD, Board and shareholders as required
- Ability to promote and encourage professionalism and ethical behaviour throughout the company.
- Up to date financial knowledge and ACCA membership (including CPD)
- Ability to provide strong leadership to the finance team, including all line management responsibilities
- IT literacy and ability to utilise software to maximise productivity
- Flexible attitude and ability to manage a large workload
- Strong communication skills
